Sarajuddin Isar, Affiliate Researcher, is a Political Economy researcher with extensive experience in banking, finance and international development. He is a PhD candidate at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and his research focuses on taxation and state building in post-2001 Afghanistan. Sarajuddin Isar is a researcher with two old London-based magazines – the Accountant, and the International Accounting Bulletin. He was a visiting scholar to Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit (AREU) in Kabul, as well as to Open University, Oliver Wyman and BBC in London. He has been the Editor for Simorg – a trilingual Fortnightly Newspaper published by Afghan diaspora in London. Sarajuddin Isar was the Chief of Staff of the Governor of the Central Bank of Afghanistan between 2005 and 2009, and worked in a number of international organizations including the USAID, UN/WFP and international charities such as the Catholic Relief Services, Acted, Afghanaid and Oxfam.
