Macroeconomic data for Afghanistan is scattered across several databases, and usually inconsistent. Most available macroeconomic data series start in 2003. Yet, historical data was compiled in several sources in 1970s and 1980s. The Institute is currently working on compiling a consistent macroeconomic data series for Afghanistan, including national accounts, fiscal, external, monetary and financial sector data, usually starting since 1970s. The database will be regularly updated by the Biruni Institute on a quarterly basis, and will be accessible upon subscription.
