Matiullah Faeeq

Matiullah Faeeq, Senior Research Fellow, has an extensive experience working both with the public and private sectors of Afghanistan. He worked as the chief economist, monetary policy expert and head of banking supervision department of the Da Afghanistan Bank (central bank) from 2008 to 2016. During his work in the central bank, he engaged with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) missions on designing the monetary policy framework, and financial sector policies and regulations.

Subsequently Mr. Faeeq joined the Afghan United Bank, a commercial bank in Afghanistan, as a member of board of directors. In the meantime, he co-founded a financial consultancy firm to provide professional services to the banks and money service providers in the country.

Mr. Faeeq has a master degree in public administration in international development (MPA-ID) from Harvard Kennedy School, USA, and BSc (Hons) and MSc in economics from International Islamic University – Islamabad.
