Mir Tawfiq Ansari

Mir Tawfiq Ansari, Affiliate Researcher, is a macroeconomist with expertise in monetary policy and banking supervision. He holds postgraduate degrees in economics from Tsukuba University, Japan (MSc. Economic Policy, funded by the Joint Japan-World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program based on competitive selection) and Panjab University, India (MSc. Economics & Quantitative Analysis).

His research has focused on the impact of structural characteristics of developing countries on exchange rate pass-through, determinants of the exchange rate for Afghani, analysis of private sector reforms for improving Afghanistan’s ranking in Doing Business Indicators, and market analysis of money service providers in Afghanistan.

Mir Tawfiq Ansari has taught economics and statistics at Kabul University and Tabish University, and worked for the Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA) as Deputy Director for Research. He is currently an economic researcher at the Central Bank of Afghanistan (DAB).
