Attending SDG Roundtable with Senior Leadership of the Government

On the fourth day of Roundtable Discussions on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on July 30, 2019, Biruni Institute joined the team of international experts and the senior management of the UNDP for a high-level discussion with H.E. Chief Executive of Afghanistan, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, at Sapidar Palace, and with the Minister of Finance. Dr. Qayoumi.

At the Ministry of Finance, the discussions focused on government’s macro-economic policies for SDGs and the transition from a war economy to a peace economy. The acting Minister of Finance Dr. Mohammad Humyon Qayoumi praised the roundtable initiative and underscored the government’s interest in macroeconomic modelling for regional connectivity among the others.

In the second part of the day, the delegation met with H.E. Chief Executive of Afghanistan, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, at the Sepidar palace where his office leads Afghanistan’s SDGs Executive Committee at the very high level. H.E. Abdullah expressed supported the initiated and stated that Afghanistan should make good use of the SDG modelling for long term growth and sustainable peace in the country.
