In-line with our mission and mandate, the Institute is committed to promoting public awareness in economic policy and thinking. Working with the media is one such mechanism to engage with the public and stimulate a productive national debate around contemporary economic issues that can eventually help improve and influence economic policy decisions through a positive engagement between the Government, civil society, media, and people.
To this end, the Institute has been actively collaborating with domestic and international media outlets particularly when the COVID-19 pandemic created economic uncertainty. The Afghanistan Economic Outlook, launched during a press conference, received overwhelming media attention, and the dialogue on “Peace and Economics” was a successful media outreach.
Similarly, in 2020, our cooperation with leading domestic and international media included a countless number of news interviews, TV shows, and Op-eds on subjects pertaining to economic implications of COVID-19, regional cooperation, poverty, and the Geneva Conference.
