Dr. Lutfi Rahimi is Head of Research at the Biruni Institute, and Assistant Professor of Economics at the American University of Afghanistan. He previously worked a Senior Advisor to the Minister of Economy, and as a tax consultant at the World Bank country office in Kabul.
Dr. Rahimi holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom. He has a BSc from University of Essex and MSc from University of Exeter, both in economics.
His PhD research focused on behavioral dimensions of tax compliance and labour supply, and the effects of public service delivery methods to deal with corruption. His current research activities at the Biruni Institute include applied microeconomic analysis, tax policy, regional cooperation, and development economics.
